Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate CAS 55566-30-8
This is THPS, 4-hydroxy methyl phosphonic acid, with CAS number 55566-30-8. It is a green, low-toxicity, rapidly degradable quaternary ammonium salt fungicide / flame retardant.Appearance: Colorless and transparent acidic liquid (commonly a 50% - 75% aqueous solution), without strong irritating odor.pH: 3 - 4; Soluble in water and can be mixed with polar solvents
✅ Rapid degradation: After use, it decomposes into phosphate, ammonia, and water, with no long-term residue.
✅ Highly effective and broad-spectrum: Strongly kills bacteria, fungi, and algae; low dosage, quick effect.
✅ Good stability: Acidic stable, resistant to heat / hard water; hydrolyzed and inactivated in alkaline conditions.

1. Industrial Water Treatment (Main)
Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate is used for circulating cooling water, oilfield injection water, papermaking white water, sewage systems: kills bacteria / algae, controls sludge, prevents corrosion; suitable for high salt / high temperature / hard water, degrades quickly, no residue, low foam.
2. Oilfield
Drilling fluid / completion fluid: inhibits sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), prevents pipeline corrosion; compatibility is good.
3. Aquaculture
Fish ponds / shrimp ponds: improves bottom condition, kills bacteria and controls algae, improves black and odorous water; decomposes into harmless phosphates, safe for aquatic life.
4. Textile Flame Retardant
Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate is used for permanent flame retardant finishing of cotton / cotton-polyester fabrics, resistant to washing, low toxicity, environmentally friendly.
5. Others Paper anti-corrosion, coating anti-mildew, leather tanning agent, etc.
