Polyisobutylene CAS 9003-27-4
Polyisobutylene (PIB, CAS 9003-27-4) is a saturated linear polymer obtained by cationic polymerization of isobutylene monomer. It is non-toxic, odorless, highly stable, highly airtight, highly insulating, and its form changes from a viscous liquid → semi-solid → rubber elastomer as the molecular weight increases.
Extremely resistant to aging and chemical stability
Full chain saturation: resistant to heat, oxygen, ozone, ultraviolet rays, acids, alkalis and salts, does not degrade or become brittle for a long time
Thermal stability: can be used for a long time at -50℃ to 150℃, with a high flash point and low flammability
High airtightness + high insulation + low permeability
Extremely strong airtightness: excellent barrier properties against water, gas and steam, far superior to ordinary rubber
Good electrical insulation: high volume resistivity, low dielectric loss, suitable for cables/electrical sealing
Safe and non-toxic + wide compatibility
FDA food grade: non-toxic, non-irritating, can be used in chewing gum, cosmetics, pharmaceutical excipients
Intermiscible with hydrocarbons/rubber/resin: easy to blend and modify, improving viscosity, flexibility and weather resistance.
