Dimethyloctadecyl[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride, with the CAS number 27668-52-6, is an organic silicon quaternary ammonium salt. Quaternary ammonium salts can adsorb negatively charged bacteria and have excellent bactericidal effects. Dimethyloctadecyl[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride can be used for processing of fibers such as cotton, nylon, and polyester, and has wide applications. Recently, it has also been used in non-woven fabrics, foamed polyurethane, and synthetic leather materials.
Appearance: Light yellow / colorless transparent liquid (often mixed with methanol / ethanol solutions)
Density: 0.89 g/mL (at 20℃); can be dissolved in alcohols, undergo hydrolysis reaction upon contact with water; has a relatively low flash point (more flammable in methanol solution version)
