The leaves and leaf buds of the Carnauba Wax are extracted and refined to produce a hard and brittle substance that is insoluble in water. It is a hard, high-melting-point, shiny wax. Its main components are palmitoleic acid beeswax esters, fatty acid lipids, wax acids, and hydrocarbon components. It is composed of mostly 26-carbon 26-alcohol esters and a small amount of diesters and hydroxy fatty acids.
