    Application

    1. Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate (HABS) is an anionic surfactant with strong hydrophobicity, excellent emulsifying, dispersing, and wetting properties, and resistance to hard water and alkali. Its primary uses include as an industrial additive, such as in the formulation of rust-proof oils, emulsified cutting fluids, oilfield tertiary oil recovery additives, detergents, and textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries.

    2. Oilfield tertiary oil recovery: Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate is used as an additive in oilfield tertiary oil recovery.

    3. Lubricating Oils and Rust-Preventive Oils: Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate is used in the formulation of rust-proof oils and emulsified oils, as a rust inhibitor and emulsifier.

    4. Metalworking: It is used as an emulsifier in emulsified cutting fluids, wire-cutting fluids, and hydraulic transmission fluids.

    5. Cleaning Agents: Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate can be used as cleaning oils and liquid detergents in process workshops.

    6. Textile and Dyeing: Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate is used as a textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries, such as refining agents, desizing agents, and leveling agents.

    7. Papermaking: Sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate is used as a resin dispersant and felt detergent.

    8. Leather Industry: Used as a penetrating degreasing agent.

    Features

    1. Strong Hydrophobicity and Interfacial Activity: Its longer carbon chain (typically C₁₈–C₂₈) provides stronger hydrophobicity and superior interfacial activity than standard sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate.

    2. Excellent Surface Activity: It exhibits various properties, including surface tension reduction, emulsification, detergency, dispersancy, and wetting.

    3. Good Compatibility: It can be used in conjunction with a variety of surfactants, except for cationic surfactants.

    4. Solubility: It has good solubility in water and alkaline solutions.

    5. Hard Water and Alkali Resistance: It is more resistant to hard water and alkaline media than standard sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate.

    6. Other Properties: It exhibits corrosion inhibition, rust prevention, and emulsification properties.
