    What is Sodium Hexahydroxostannate CAS 12027-70-2?

    Sodium Hexahydroxostannate is a class of alkaline inorganic compounds containing tin (Sn). Common forms were Sodium tin H6 (Na₂[Sn(OH)₆)] and sodium metasannate (Na₂SnO₃)

    Sodium hexahydroxostannate has two CAS numbers, namely CAS 12027-70-2 and CAS 12209-98-2. Sodium stannate trihydrate is an inorganic compound containing crystalline water. Sodium stannate is widely applied in the industrial field. Sodium hexahydroxostannate is mainly based on the chemical properties of tin and is concentrated in surface treatment, glass manufacturing and the ceramic industry.

    Application

    In the electroplating industry: Sodium Hexahydroxostannate is the main salt for alkaline tin plating. Sodium Hexahydroxostannate can also be used in electroplating processes such as cyanide copper-tin alloys and pyrophosphate. It is used for automotive parts and the inner walls of pipes. The salt spray corrosion resistance of the coating is far superior to that of pure tin coating.

    In the textile industry: Sodium hexahydroxostannate is used as a fire retardant and weight additive for fabrics. Sodium hexahydroxostannate is used for "weight gain finishing" of high-end silk and wool fabrics, enhancing the drape and texture of the fabrics (such as silk scarves and wool coat fabrics) without affecting the softness of the fabrics.

    In the dyeing and printing industry: Sodium stannate trihydrate can be used as a mordant to help precipitate pigments.

    Ceramic and enamel industry: Sodium stannate trihydrate can also be used in the manufacture of ceramics, glass, etc. Sodium hexahydroxostannate, as a flux for ceramic glazes and enamelware, can lower the melting point of glazes, making the glaze surface more uniform and smooth. Sodium stannate can also enhance the acid and alkali resistance of ceramic or enamel products and extend their service life.

    Features

    1. The content of harmful impurities ((Fe), (Pb), (As)) is far lower than the national standard, which avoids darkening, fogging, and streaking during the electroplating process, and reduces the corrosion resistance and weldability of the coating.
