Sodium Deoxycholate CAS 302-95-4
Sodium deoxycholate is the sodium salt of deoxycholic acid, which is a white crystalline powder at room temperature, with a bile like odor and a strong bitter taste. Sodium deoxycholate is an ionic detergent that can be used to lyse cells and dissolve proteins that are difficult to dissolve in water. It can also be used for bile lysis experiments. The principle is that bile or bile salts have surface activity, which can quickly activate autolytic enzymes and accelerate the self dissolution of bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae.

1. Biopharmaceuticals: Cell lysis (extraction of membrane proteins, nucleic acids). Preparation of liposomes and vaccine adjuvants. Drug solubilizers (increase the solubility of poorly soluble drugs).
2. Molecular biology: DNA/RNA extraction (disrupting cell membranes). Protein purification (mild detergent).
3. Cosmetics&personal care: emulsifiers, thickeners (to improve formula stability). Promote the penetration of active ingredients (such as skincare products).
4. Laboratory research: membrane protein research, virus research, etc.
