Paraformaldehyde CAS 30525-89-4
Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a polymer of formaldehyde (high molecular weight polyoxymethylene) with a typical structural length of eight to one hundred single positions. Long chain polyoxymethylene is commonly used in the production of heat-resistant plastics, also known as polyoxymethylene plastics (POE, Derlin produced by DuPont). Polyformaldehyde decomposes rapidly and releases slightly foul smelling formaldehyde.
