1. The spice and flavor industry
Preparation of sulfur-containing flavor precursors: Isobutyl sulfide itself has a faint "sulfide characteristic aroma" (similar to the light fragrance of Onions and garlic), and can be converted into food-grade flavorings through chemical modifications (such as reactions with aldehydes and ketones), which are used to blend meat and seafood flavorings (such as beef flavorings and shrimp flavorings), enhancing the layering and authenticity of flavors (sulfur is a key component of many natural flavor substances).
2. Industrial solvents
Used for dissolving hydrophobic sulfur-containing compounds: In rubber and plastic processing, it can be used as an auxiliary solvent to dissolve vulcanization accelerators, antioxidants and other additives, helping the additives to be evenly dispersed in the substrate, and improving the anti-aging performance or vulcanization efficiency of rubber/plastic. Diisobutyl Sulfide can also be used in extraction and separation systems to assist in extracting sulfur-containing components from petroleum and coal chemical industries.
