Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride with CAS 7173-51-5
Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) is a quaternary ammonium salt compound and belongs to cationic surfactants. Didecyldimethylammonium chloride is usually a colorless to pale yellow liquid or solid at temperature, depending on its purity. High temperature, but it may decompose under strong acid or strong alkali conditions. DDAC 80% is stable to light, but long-term exposure may cause slow degradation. Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride possesses the characteristics of cationic surfactants and can reduce the surface tension of liquids.

Disinfectants and bactericides: They are used for disinfection in medical, food processing, livestock breeding and other environments, and are effective against enveloped viruses such as the novel coronavirus. They can also be used as bactericides and algaecides in industrial circulating cooling water systems.
Industrial preservatives: Added to industries such as coatings, wood, and papermaking to prevent the growth of microorganisms.
Daily chemical products: Didecyldimethylammonium chloride is used as a preservative and emulsifier in some personal care products such as shampoos and body washes.
Textile processing: Endowing fabrics with antibacterial and antifungal functions, such as medical textiles, sportswear, etc.
Agriculture: As a pesticide adjuvant or fungicide, DDAC 80% is used to control crop diseases.
Petroleum industry: As a corrosion inhibitor, or for microbial control in oilfield water injection systems.
