    What is Bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)carbodiimide CAS 2162-74-5?

    Bis (2,6-diisopropylphenyl) carbodiimide is an anti hydrolysis agent. Anti hydrolysis agent k-1 is a steric hindrance aromatic carbodiimide based anti hydrolysis stabilizer that reacts with hydrolysis products such as carboxylic acids or water to prevent self catalytic hydrolysis degradation and improve the service life of many polymers, especially under harsh usage conditions such as high temperature, humidity, and acidic and alkaline environments.

    Bis (2,6-diisopropylphenyl) carbodiimide is mainly used as a stabilizer for polyester products, polyurethane products (such as PU systems, MDI prepolymers, TPU, adhesives), polyamide nylon products, and easily hydrolyzed plastics such as EVA.

    Application

    Amide bond synthesis: (2,6-diisopropylphenyl)carbodiimide, as a dehydrating condensing agent, is used in the synthesis of amino acids and peptides. It can efficiently promote the reaction between carboxyl groups (-COOH) and amino groups (-NH₂) to form amide bonds (-CONH-), and the by-products are easy to separate, with little impact on the purity of the products.

    Ester and urea synthesis: Bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)carbodiimide plays a catalytic role in transesterification reactions or the preparation of urea compounds, such as promoting the reaction between alcohols and carboxylic acids to form esters, or the reaction between amines and isocyanates to form ureas.

    In the field of polymer materials: RARECHEM AQ A4 0133 is used to prepare polymer materials such as polyurethane and polyamide, serving as a crosslinking agent or accelerator for polymerization reactions to enhance the structural stability and performance of the materials.

    Pharmaceutical intermediate synthesis: In drug development, it is often used to synthesize pharmaceutical intermediates containing amide structures such as antibiotics and is one of the key reagents in medicinal chemistry.
