ANTIMONY (IV) OXIDE CAS 1332-81-6
Antimony oxide is a metal oxide composed of antimony and oxygen elements, mainly including antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) and antimony pentoxide (Sb2O5). Antimony trioxide appears as a white crystalline powder. It turns yellow when heated and white when cooled. Odorless. Relative density: 5.67. Melting point: 655℃. Boiling point: 1425℃. It can sublimate when heated to 400℃ under high vacuum. It is soluble in sodium hydroxide solution, hot tartaric acid solution, tartrate hydrogen salt solution and sodium sulfide solution, and slightly soluble in water, dilute nitric acid and dilute sulfuric acid. Antimony pentoxide appears as a light yellow powder, is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alkali, and can form antimonate.

1)Antimony oxide is widely used as a flame retardant in plastics such as pvc, pp, pe, ps, abs, and pu. It has a high flame retardant efficiency and has a small impact on the mechanical properties of the base material (such as fire-resistant uniforms and gloves, flame-retardant electronic device casings, flame-retardant carriages, flame-retardant wires and cables, etc.).
2)It is used as a filler and flame retardant in the rubber industry.
3)It is used as an enamel covering agent in enamel and ceramic products.
4)Non-magnetic ceramics used in the electronics industry for manufacturing pressure-sensitive ceramics and magnetic head parts.
5)It is used as a white pigment and flame retardant in the paint industry.
6)Used as a catalyst for organic synthesis.
7)It is used as a glass clarifying agent in glass and glazed products.
