1. Synthetic dyes and pigments
Through diazotization reactions, coupling reactions, etc., N-acetylaniline can be derived into various dye intermediates (such as p-nitroacetylaniline, p-chloroacetylaniline), which are then used in the production of acid dyes, disperse dyes, azo dyes, etc., and are acetanilide widely applied in the dyeing of textiles, leather, and paper, as well as in the coloring of inks and coatings.
2. Additives for synthetic rubber and plastics
Acetanilide can be used to prepare rubber antioxidants (such as N-phenyl-2-naphthylamine), delaying the aging and cracking of rubber during use. Acetanilide can also be used as a stabilizer or plasticizer intermediate in plastic processing to improve the heat resistance and mechanical properties of plastics.
